There has been new innovation, new discoveries, plummeting financial sectors and new era of information technology in today’s status quo. Planet Pluto to the uprising social networks we can surely predict it’s not a mundane world anymore. Certainly, its because of the burgeoning information technology that has concised the whole world. My question is where does Nepal stand on it? What do we expect from Nepal and what is Nepal going to look like in or after 15 years?
We can precisely see how the world has changed. Recession has hit the market, investments nil, in security has arose. World was facing big recession of its time but ironically Nepal was offering inflation to its people. Big new apartments being build up, western culture is on air and people have direct communication to the world through social media.
This is what I see after 10 yrs in Nepal
Nepal may or may not be divided into different parts, race or religion but Nepal is sure to be dissected into two parts;” haves and haves not” in around 10 years of time. Kathmandu is going to be next New York City where rich, crooks live, entertainment sectors grows and the rest of the country will have to suffer the consequences.
There will be tremendous amount of engineering colleges and school which will be affiliated to the universities abroad and students will be graduating from abroad universities and will settle abroad. There will be some online Nepalese schools as well but don’t think they will last long. Government wont be stable but politicians will be scared because of the mass media.
There are some positive aspects as well, I believe in 10 years Nepalese would be more educated, more logical so that there would not be any high level caste and low level. I wont say it will completely be vanished but perhaps will be in rare cases. There will be developments in ideas, values rather contemplating liberal culture and rituals.
So I would like to ask you folks What would Nepal look like and what you expect Nepal to be in 2085 B.S

i wrote twice and erased because it's really hard to say what Nepal will be in 15 years. it can either go in the direction of development or will move towards destruction.
looking at present situation, I don't have much hope. as long as attitude of political leaders doesn't change, development will remain a dream. all political parties, regardless of their philosophy, are after money and power. noone gives a shit about the country. since last few years, overall situation of the country is going down - more crimes, corruption, pollution (behavioral as well as environmental), unavailability of day-to-day amenities (electricity, petroleum, and more)
if this continues, things will get worse and end in a war - among political parties, between rich and poor, among pahadi and madhesi, among different religious groups, among different ethnic groups.
the key thing is leadership and the one we have is one of the worst in the world. unless we get leaders who are really dedicated to the betterment of people and the country, Nepal will remain undeveloped and maybe will get annexed to India as its part, who knows?
i just wish that Nepal will get a good leadership soon who'll move it towards progress.

Interesting thread!! However, should we just discuss about where Nepal will be in 15 years if the status quo (in leadership, economic policy etc) does not improve? How about discussing what the educated youth of Nepal, including those of us living abroad, can do to take Nepal further? Do we have any ideas that, if implimented properly, can take Nepal forward? More importantly, do we (the youth of Nepal) have the passion to get our hands dirty to shape the future of Nepal or are we just going to pass comments on how pathetic the political and socio-economic situation in Nepal is? Has the youth of Nepal (a considerable percentage of which has moved abroad) given up on Nepal yet?
