Viewing the LA thread and other skool threads that've come and gone in sajha, just wanted to ask if there were any peeps who went to : Kathmandu Valley High School, Chakrapath, Mahrajgunj?

There is a huge new influx of KVHS peeps in NYC these days...And they had a reunion of sorts last spring where around 20 cats attended.  Would love to meet up with more folks who went to this gem of a skool.  BTW, anyone remember the Inter Skool Swimming Tourney back in '93 when KVHS made national headlines??  Was a kid back then, but man, the perfomances by both Tashis were a feat to behold: Both these guys took all the 1st place trophies in ALL events in the Senior Division...A clean Sweep!!  Man, those were some fond memories.

Also, how about the time during the Inter School Foot-Ball Tourney in '93 and D-Cops crooked against KVHS in the semis since they had the home-turf advantage??  HAHAH  I still remember the PT master, Thapa Budo give hell to the D-Cops' Coach, "ma National khiladi huda, taile mero boot tero ghati ma baandthe."  LOLs  All the players walked off the field even before it ended...KVHS had the best team then and it was sad seeing them lose that way.

Finally, the first batch of SLC candidates (circa '94), never ever knew this but insiders always knew of the SLC Board of Directors (Education Minisrty officials) came to school to Kalu Sir asking for 3 lakhs for any student to hit the Top 10 in the boards and 7 lakhs for Topping the Boards...Refusing to accept that saying that it is not right to cheat on such important issues, KVHS passed up on the offer.  That same year, Galaxy had 3 students in the Board 10.  Irony or what??  Galaxy a school that opened the same year as KVHS (in 1986 KVHS was built on a huge azz piece of land with 2 huge azz buildings while Galaxy was a one story building back then with no land for a playground)...After that "Board" year, Galaxy made more money than half of all private schools in the valley combined and it expanded until no tomorrow.  KVHS still remains the same.

How do I know this?  Well, I just do =D

Hell ya!! I remember all those moments. I went to KVHS formally KVS... second batch 1995!! Nirmod whats your real name!! I bet we were in the same class coz there was only one section during that year. Hope you remember Karma, Raju, Thaiba, Pooja, Puncho, Sarita and the names just keeps on.....

I was 2003 batch SLC ....loved every moment of it....Samsara I remember the Swimming competition well faintly as I was small and I have heard about the SLC Board Scam from the senior dais....I think the principal was Deepak Hamal (a cricketer) .....

Nimrod and Vyrus, if you ask a question, u should've answered about yourself first...I know all those peeps you mentioned too well and I know everyone from the first batch and most from the 2nd, 3rd and 4th batch...The cats younger most prolly know me too.  Though I went to school in St. Paul's Darjeeling, I used to come and attend class with the cats at KVS there whenever I had a the long azz winter vacation and at times the month long summer holidays (took tuition there with the kids still in class...And at times I even lived in the dorms).  Is that sufficient enough?    Let me know who u think I am via email, man.

Once again bro, Send me an email here on sajha and we shall catch up on old times and I shall let you know of the others who are here from KVS.  BTW, Prem Bahadur (Boxer) and Avishkar Gurung (soccer phenom) from your batch are in Dallas.  Porg is a big-time party-animal back in KTM, Gopal and Karma Sonam are in Oz and from the batch above you guys: Tashi Gurung, Tashi Eugyal, Tashi Tsering, Tashi Wangyal, Loday, Siddharth and Nyendak are all in NYC...And Prem Tsering is still macking on all the models in KTM.  LOLs

Mundre, So you prolly were in the same class as Kishor and Sonamla, etc...They're here in NYC too.  BTW, ever remember someone teach Grade 6 only during his summer vaca of '99?  After that he had to leave for the US?  Send me an email if you do.

Good to know all the fellas are in US... I meet Aviskar and Prem and Subash quite often when i am in Dallas... And our computer sir Kushal is in Kansas city MO...I met Prem Tshering, Pema, Puncho and Mohan while I was in KTM last summer!! Vyrus

I will be in NJ/NY during New Year time. I would love to meet meet people from KVS. Any particular place/bars where people hangout in  NY??

Vyrus: I was in a slackier groups hangout back then, hanging out with Prakash Gurung, Niroj Lama, Bishwa Gurung, Milan Gurung and all........well for a good hint: I think we had our first band appearence when we were in 8th grade outside in afternoon and i was singing "Don't you Cry tonight i still love you baby"  ha ha ha   so embarassing to recall. Who am i kidding, i will send you a message for  full name.

 

Vyrus, I have no idea where Ngawang Tharchen is.  However, Sonam Gyaltzen is always making trips to NYC.  Supriya Hamal is Taklu's daughter who went to school in Darj...Taklu aka Fill in the Blanks.  LOLs  His bicyle was legendary (later he went on to buy a car) and his wife surely wore the pants in the house.

Poon Hill, u in Canada?  And did you play guitars there with Eugyal (who's since moved to NYC)?  If so, hit me thru email.

 

 

Thanks Samsara if you ever get a hold of Sonam could you ask where Nawang Tharchen is coz he is one of my lost friend from KVS. The last time I ever talked to him was on the day our SLC results came out. Its been about 15 years now and I never met him. I would like to be in touch with him. I would appreciate for that help. Vyrus, met up with Sonam Gyatzen and Chogyal (from '96 SLC batch: the dancer/singer) last night at the Yeti Restaurant in Queens.  I asked about Ngawang and Sonam told me that he hadn't met up with that dude for the past 5 years.  He mntioned that Ngawang would prolly be back in KTM.

Poon-Hill, if you come to the bar in 60th and Woodside Ave (Sean Ogs) on Saturdays, you'll find atleast a few KVS' alumnis hanging out there.  I met up with Nyendak, Kishor and Chogyal this Saturday...Usually, there are a lot more.
