I got a good news from my consultant today my H1b is accepted (Master's Quota). Such a relief.

I will ask them. I have a cap gap my OPT expires on June 8th. My college is ready to extend my OPT but I have to do everything today. I am in college wiating for the Fax from my consultant, USCIS guys are on hold my advisor is on the meeting. Oh Boy I am so worried I can't think of anything else right now.

didnt understand what yuou are saying amit. You said you h1b is approved. Then why do you need to extend your OPT. Since your h1b is approved and will take effect from Oct 1, you will be in status till october because of the new cap gap rule and you dont need to extend your opt.

Just curoius because my opt also expires on July and h1b will be effective from October.calirification will be highly appreciated.

Since this is an automatic extension rule, we don't have to worry until and unless our h1b is rejected, revoked or denied. Just keep continuing ur work.

But, just to make sure that ur SEVIS has been updated (after opt expired) in the system till Sept 30th, it's better to call or contact ur DSO at least once.

I also got approval notice today.

hey Simsim and amitraja, Did you guys got receipt notice/no. before your case get approved?

I had got my lottory winning notice on 22 April and today got the "approval notice sent" status when I checked it online.

I never got my receipt no./notification either from my attorney or USCIS. But, I got my receipt no. from my cashed check. When I checked my status online last week, it says my case has been approved. I am worried that I am not gonna get anything from USCIS again. Any info regarding this issue??

CIGG I really don't know thats why I was confused. When I went to college yeaterday the advisor called SEVIS office and confirmed that I can extend my OPT if H1b is accepted, but they need a letter from employer(consultancy) that my H1b is approved.

I called the college advisor this morning he told me that he already faxed my doc to SEVIS office for extension so no need to worry. I think I am fine now. Any more suggestion would be really helpful.
