I am in OPT right now and it expires after a month..My driver license also expires after a month...I went to renew my license and got to know that i could drive only till my OPT is valid..I could only renew it for a month..I don't wanna pay to renew only for a month since i'll get I 20 soon...But this law shocked me...This happened in Oklahoma...How's your state's law????

Talk to your intl' adviser. I was in the same position a couple of days back where they wouldn't renew my license in the state I'm living in currently and the state I'm moving to where my I-20 is going to be from will not give me a license because I am not a resident there. After my adviser talked to someone in the DMV they are going to renew my license for two more months after my OPT is over. I think if you get it done before your status check expires you wont have to pay anything (in MN).

OPT period has been extended. So, it seems your OPT will also extend to another 17 months. I think, no worries now.

I am not sure about Oklahoma. But you can get the DL renewed online if you have a SS # on som other states. No need to go anywhere and it will automatically renew for another 5... 10 years with no problem. Check the website instead of going out there.
Best Regards,

yes, in TX also you can renew your Drivering License online if it is your first extention. The second extention, you have to visit the Department of Public Safety (DPS). The first extention is good for 5 years and you just need to enter your information online and pay the charge to have it renewed. Just as simple as that.
Good Luck.
