I got denied too but it's more off an ill luck that would result in denial. Go to USCIS.gov and do some research viceroy. A lot of College students in states such as Iowa, North Dakota and California where there aren't a lot of desi stores apply for work permits.

it should be like two semester in a college .. . so that way .. u
can apply for work permit trough the reason of economic
hardship . .. i had applied twice and got twice ..and soon
to be apply one ... cause two had already expired . .. go
to the international student advisor ... and ask him that u wanna
apply for work permit .. . mentioning ur parents are having
hard time to support you.. . he will give u a form ..and u need
to write a letter one by yourself ..and another by
ur sponser .. and it would be better if u
submit the proof of nepal economic crisis and the problem
nepal facing these days .... Print some news like terai
closed for 14th days, petroleum products shortage in nepal ..
.. inorder to have a proof in which ur parents are unabale
to support u.

Viceroy,
Remember one thing, if you transfer to another school your work permit Expires as well. Keep that in mind.....
I applied twice and i got twice with no problem...It just took 15 days for me. Just write a personal essay mentioning ur parents are having hard time sponsoring you because of maoists problem and other political problems in Nepal and you'll definitely get one..
Good Luck.

Also, you need not be attending a 4 year college to apply for economic hardship. You could be attending a community college and you'd still be able to get a working permit! Better be safe than sorry fellows. Work permits will guarantee a lucrative job in places such as Ocean City, and by those, I'm not talking about the ghisa pita jobs of Crab Boys and McDonald's burger flpper, something that I did in my first summer. Good luck.
