two time MVP ...not talking about the team as a whole but as a player Nash is as good as it gets at the point guard position. love watching him run the offense. like you said sleepyspurs im not talking about his defensive attributes but on the offensive front there are very few PGs in the league who can do what he can.

Nash is the best PG, and two time MVP, but Tim Duncan is also two time MVP, and on top of that 3 championship rings and three finals MVP. I love Nash but comparing Nash's Career with Duncan's, Duncan's is lot better than Nash.

Makaveli, you are always on point... comparing nash to duncan is like comparing apples to oranges... unless nash wins 3 championships, i dont think they can even be mentioned in the same breath

I agree with Makaveli and Sleepyspur. It's a disrespect to TD. TD is a proven winner and the other one is not yet :=) The only common thing I see between them is 2 MVP trophies. Nash has only been in NBA radar after his move to Suns. KC bro, did you get to watch MJ in his prime? I was/am no MJ fan but he is still the best ever to suit the NBA gear

I never liked Kobe, I always thought he was over rated. Then I saw him play against the spurs this one time, and he was just unbelievable. I mean, I have NEVER seen anyone make the kind of difficult shots that he makes on a regular basis. The other day, I was watching 85 celtics vs hawks game where Larry scored 60 points. That was amazing, then I told my self, wait, last year kobe put on 62 on the Mavs at the end of the 3rd quarter. Yah, he might be cocky, yah he might have driven shaq out of town.... still he is the most exciting and talented player in the league and is the closest things to MJ.

No doubt .. Kobe was the best player through out the regular season .. personally, I'm a Kobe hater but hats off to him .. However, if you guys are talking about the best player in 2006-2007 play offs then it has to be LeBron .. King James has not only led the team in scoring, assists, and almost rebounds he has also carried his team undefeated until now ... he is dangerous from everywhere ..from rebounding to scoring to setting his team mates up ... Also, note that he is the only superstar left in this year's play offs who has been living up to the hype ... some of you might argue on Cavs playing weak teams so far but make no mistake they were the ones who almost knocked off Pistons last year (first time Cavs made the play offs after 8years) .. look forward to Eastern Conference final between Cavs and Pistons ...That'll be the end of Pistons

Lebron is amazing in his own right. However, his lack of defense and ball handling worries me. Other than that, everything else is quite fascinating.

Lebron James??? Commentator ! R u kidding me? He didn't even make the 1st team all-NBA..... Lebron's defense is as good as Steve Nash...atleast Nash is good enough to take some charges......Lebron is a budding Superstar, still very very young....can't be called teh best player just yet !! Right now, its Kobe, and everybody else.....I personally like Duncan.....I still think Nash should be the MVP this year, but Dirk already won it....Oh well, sun will shine in the East tomorrow !!

I think it is unwise to put Lebron in the same category as Steve Nash. Lebron is an average defender. The criticism is not that he cannot defend but he does not put in the defensive effort consistently like say for example Kobe. I mean, you really cant compare that with Nash's non-existant defense. And, by the way, those charges are the sorriest excuse for defense.

suike thats why i say kobe is a better player "a MVP caliber" but not the MVP for the sole reason that Lakers have not been playing well as team He will for sure be a MVP even without any 50+ scores if Lakers manage top three seeds and again for that to happen Kobe needs a better partner than all the crap that they have now!!!!!!!

Sleepyspur i know u r a spurs/ duncan fan, duncan is a great player but not the best player in nba he is certainly the best powerforward in the game, no doubt abt it. Knightcrawler i know ur a big time kobe fan, n i would say he is amazing but cant be considered the best player cause to be the best player u need to have a balance in every aspect of the game, i personally like 4-5 players but in my view i dont think we can name one player as the best nba player.

Good to see some love for my man Kobe here in this thread.... Suike, u r right on the point ! I thought, Kobe had the best chance of winning the MVP title last year...yet he was voted down...matter of fact he was I think 5th on the list.....There are many writers who simply do not like Kobe and thus the baised votings in the MVP race.....I still believe it was as much as Shaq's fault on what happened with Lakers as is Kobe or Phil for that matter....Let truth be told, Shaq left Lakers coz they won't give him 32 mil per year contract extension...and Shaq's ego won't let him stay and play behind a superstar in his prime i.e. Kobe ! Lakers and Kobe have good years ahead though....by 2009 most of the overrated contracts they took over will expire and they will have more room to get substantial free agents ! I agree with most of you on this year's MVP, Nash should have won....but I can live with Dirk being the one this year...he's choked in the playoffs this year, and in finals last year...so, he's a lot more to prove than Nash and/or Kobe to revalidate his MVP run next year !
