I am planning to make a short trip to Nepal this summer. My H1B visa stamp is expired on my passport but I do have the documents that show the extension of my H1. I will have to apply for H1 visa stamp in Nepal.
My question is, Does anyone have a similar experience? How long do you have to wait to get an appointment, and what is the procedure? And do we have to go for visa interview or do we just drop our passport off? And how long does it take after the interview to get the visa?
My visit is going to be very short, so I would like to know exactly how to manage this to fit my time there.

I would appreciate your help.

I recently came back from Nepal and here's what i did:

- went to Nabil Bank at Maharajgunj/Chakrapath(???) for the visa application
- cost $100 for the visa application
- Two 2*2 pictures
- took me a week for an appointment (may take upto 2 weeks)
- H1b approval notice from INS (I 797???)
- Letter from company stating your employment
- Recent pay stubs
- W2 of 2004

good luck..........

Thanks AX. I hope I will not have much trouble getting a visa.

And since I'll be there for only few days, I am planning to send someone from my family to the bank before I arrive to set up an appointment for me. Can this be done. Do you know?

Mahasakti:

Just a note that Visa section is in Hote Yak & yeti. It is no longer at the US Embassy in Maharajganj.

Yes you can send somebody to get the ticket in advance. Make sure to ask for a ticket date when you will be in KTM. I find it much more efficient at the visa section now. Try to ge there early. I would say 8 or 9 am appointment is the best.

Make sure you have a list of what your responsibilities are........
