In the notice of action letter of TPS,it is mentioned that "While you are under Temporary Protected Status you: (3) will be considered as being in, and maintaining lawful status as a nonimmigrant for purpose of adjustment of status under 245 of the Act for change of status under section 248 of the Act".

It clearly says that TPS holders are eligible for change of status so I do not understand why lawyers tell us that TPS is not an immigration status and no longer eligible for change of status.

Lawyers want money. I have seen several links where they suggest that you should only apply TPS after consulting lawyers - it's ridiculous but it's their business to make their living.
