Totally agreed dude. Duncan is the best player. He is always in the short list of MVP and people forget that the box score or the scores shown in the newspapers lacks the defensive play. The greatness of Duncan is he is able to get the job done on the both side and many people just analyzes the box score. I do the same thing since I don't have time to watch all the games, but when you are watching you can see what those small defensive plays that players like Duncan does.

Its funny you say that... I dont have cable nor the time to watch the games anymore so I just check the box score. Still, I have been watching Spurs games for God knows how long to really see for myself how good Duncan really is. I remember his rookie year when Robinson was the focal point of the offense and they were in the second round of the playoffs against the Jazz. Duncan, as a rookie, was playing that year's MVP, Karl Malone. Although the Spurs lost in six (i think), I remember Duncan dominating Malone. It was pretty crazy to think a rookie would be able to beat up on a hall of famer in his prime. Right there and then, I knew I was watching the best power forward to ever play the game :-) I am not the only one, even the 2nd best power forward ever admits it twice a week on TNT.

I have these sorts of debate with my brother all the time....I think it s unfair to name one player per se....since NBA distinguishes players by the position they play. I think this year's 1st team all NBA was a good enough sample to give us an idea of who are at their best playing the position they play. It you have to name just one player out of the bunch, irrespective of the position they play, scoring ,defense and others, there's no one like KOBE !! He might very well better than MJ at his prime, just don't have enough rings to claim that just yet !

I agree with the fact that there is no one else like Kobe... He really has the makings of the next MJ. Its just unbelievable how good he is. About Nash, he is a good player, a great player, but I still have my reservations about his non-existent defense. I have yet to hear an argument to supplant this glaring weakness. And ... Sorry but, "his offense is so good, defense does nt matter" is just not a good enough argument.

Was hoping to find something more than one word responses... the spurs have a similar record as the suns... with a lot less talent... the only difference is Duncan... it is so CLEAR i dont know why people keep saying nash... why? because he has nt won n e titles, nearly got swept two years ago by the spurs, or is it because of the offensive style that is to appealing to the audience... call me boring, but i would rather watch a defensive slug fest than no defense run and gun games...

two time MVP ...not talking about the team as a whole but as a player Nash is as good as it gets at the point guard position. love watching him run the offense. like you said sleepyspurs im not talking about his defensive attributes but on the offensive front there are very few PGs in the league who can do what he can.

Nash is the best PG, and two time MVP, but Tim Duncan is also two time MVP, and on top of that 3 championship rings and three finals MVP. I love Nash but comparing Nash's Career with Duncan's, Duncan's is lot better than Nash.

Makaveli, you are always on point... comparing nash to duncan is like comparing apples to oranges... unless nash wins 3 championships, i dont think they can even be mentioned in the same breath

I agree with Makaveli and Sleepyspur. It's a disrespect to TD. TD is a proven winner and the other one is not yet :=) The only common thing I see between them is 2 MVP trophies. Nash has only been in NBA radar after his move to Suns. KC bro, did you get to watch MJ in his prime? I was/am no MJ fan but he is still the best ever to suit the NBA gear

I never liked Kobe, I always thought he was over rated. Then I saw him play against the spurs this one time, and he was just unbelievable. I mean, I have NEVER seen anyone make the kind of difficult shots that he makes on a regular basis. The other day, I was watching 85 celtics vs hawks game where Larry scored 60 points. That was amazing, then I told my self, wait, last year kobe put on 62 on the Mavs at the end of the 3rd quarter. Yah, he might be cocky, yah he might have driven shaq out of town.... still he is the most exciting and talented player in the league and is the closest things to MJ.
