Now that the maobadi atankabadis have descended upon Kathmandu, Deepak Manange and Milan Chakre are history now! I wonder what's gonna happen to them if they were to go against Maobadis! But I've always wanted to know who's more powerful, manange or chakre?

Tankae Bhattachan, the don of Pokhara, was killed by Maoists in Sarangkot. I don't think he was killled in Kandae. Manange has a good relationship and enjoys the patronage of Pashupati Sumsher Rana of RPP. Chakre - well he has (or had at one time) connections with, who else, but Paras. I once ran into this guy who is a stringer for Chakre, and who almost severed the hand of Chakre. He had stories to tell. Kathmandu's a small world, after all.

Gang wars The bloodbath between two notorious rival gangs in Kathmandu intensified over the last few weeks. Gang leaders Milan Gurung ‘Chakre’ and Dipak ‘Manangey’ unleashed their goons in a series of revenge attacks against each other. In May, Chakre survived a lethal attack by Manangey’s group at Maharajganj, but his arm was severly injured in the fight. Chakre vowed to avenge the attack, and on 1 July, his brother Tejendra Gurung led an attack on Manangey near Jai Nepal Cinema. Though he was assaulted with khukuris and swords, Manangey survived. The police have been criticised for failing to control the situation. They, in turn, blame the politicians for protecting the gangs, but questions have also been raised at the ‘suspicious behaviour’ of the police, who are often accused of being associated with one side or the other. After Chakre was arrested last week, his rival Manangey, who was being treated at Bir Hospital managed to escape just a few hours later. Although a case was filed against Manangey, an arrest warrant was never issued. It seems Chakre also has friends in the police force. When Manangey’s wife went to the police station to file a case against her husband’s attackers—Chakre’s brother and five gang members—she was arrested instead. Chakre is accused of the contract killing of a woman last year. However, in the absence of strong evidence, he will soon be released on a bail of Rs 27,000. No action has been taken against him for the attacks on Manangey. Meanwhile, Manangey is on the run, but the police say there is not enough evidence to convict him. “Even when there is sufficient evidence, they get away easily due to pressure from the politicians,†says a police source. Samaya..

I've also heard that the famous Paki terrorist organization ISI have webbed Kathmandu and operate inside the valley as well. But we haven't come across any incidents till now.

"Milan and Deepak , if their gangs become one, they can rule the country. is it right? " Collaborating with the political netas anything could be possible. Deepak is outta Nepal at the moment and don't know about Chakre (heard he's still under UML's patronage).

Balbhadra, I do agree with you.I am not ignoring the maobadi atankakaris they will be ignored by nepalese people anyway. Main leader will be in jail within a year. How can they escape after killing all innocents? That's why I kept them out of the topic.

Prem Charo, In all seriousness, how could you expect Nepal to imprison the maobadi atankabadis? There's no way that it's gonna happen. It will never happen, wish it did but it won't. They're gonna continue terrorising typical nepalese all the time.
