Dear Sajhaites,

I am enrolled in Master program in applied Math. I am planning to study statistics opting to work for financial companies. Unfortunately, I don't know where to start. Will I be able to get a job in financial companies with statistics as my major field of study? Will I be required or recommened to take some finance and economics classes? Do I have to take some software classes? What would excel my chance to get job into financial institutions with such background? Genuine suggestions would be appreciated. thanx

Dear Friend,

Plz don't take it otherwise, this post is not intended to discourage you. Aafule ta sakiyana, Tara Tapai Lai man dekhi Shubkamana..

This is what would happen next (Assuming you r not here for a long time)

1) You will forget about ur study for a while and work your asssss up to pay your tuition by working on some dhotis gas station.

2)You will always think about how not to get the "C" grade (That would be considered as failed in my university) rather than getting "A".

3)If you get lucky, on CPT you would find a REAL job but would consider working in a gas station because of its high pay rate. Till then you would have so much balance in your bank that a bank would not be able to balance your "balance". I foregot to mention, the balance would be negative.

4) When you are done with ur study, you'll be fu*ked off from this new OPT. Since you are a STEM student you would get one extra month to find a job (4 months) and can extend your OPT period up to 29 months. So consider yourself luckier than me.

5) At last, you will take a look around you, see what others are doing, ask more questions here( i would be more than happy to answer that time again) and finally would get pissed after talking with dhotis consultancy.

{disclaimer: i m stuck in the process so can't tell about more than this. Other users might be able to provide more focus on this).

The bottom line is don't think about your "future career" from now. You would even don't know your plan for the next week when you are done with your study.

As you asked for the genuine suggestion i would say

"don't run behind "hours", Focus on your study untill u r done and maitain good GPA".

ALL THE BEST.
