Lesson from Sikkim
Kathmandu , 2 June: In Sikkim, the people lost their freedom and sovereignty after they showed their rage against the rule of Chogyal. This could be a lesson for all of us Nepalese in the present situation, writes Prof. Dr. Govindaraj Joshi in Janadharana weekly.
On one hand, the Nepalese society is going through a deadly path towards religious conflict, on the other, they are also being degraded.
The parliamentary announcement has brought up some serious concerns. The sixth point announcement of resolving the citizenship problem could bring another problem in a greater scale. Since, Nepal is a state having three open borders with India, there are lots of Indian citizens who have entered Nepal and working here for years. If these Indians staying in Nepal or those who frequently visits Nepal also claim for a Nepalese citizenship in the coming days then the face of the Nepal could undergo a dire situation.
Therefore, if the political parties are not warned by the people then we surely will find our freedom being snatched in no time in the future.
