I am a US- Permanent Resident and am travelling to Nepal via Hongkong. I have layover in Hongkong for 3 hours on my way there and 11 hours on my way back.... My travel agent told me that I need to obtain Hongkong transit visa not explaining how difficult it is to obtain one... Chinese Embassy doesn't accept mail in application, someone has to hand deliver it to their visa ofiice ?!?! Anyone with such prior experience? Any help or suggestion is much appreciated. Thanks!

I had similer situation before. I did not have GC so I can't tell you exactly how it works in your situation but I had to get HK transit visa for me and my wife which was around 10000 Rs. This is ridiculas that you have to get HK visa even if you are not planning to go out at all. Same rule applies for UK as well.

i have same situation like yours too. i don't know if u have already bought ur tickets or not, if u haven't bought yet then get from Peace land travels ran by nepalese in maryland and they have one in texas too thier number is 18884614722. all u have to do is send them ur passport with the visa application package they send u once u pay for ur ticket and they ll take care of visa which is 35$ and theyll send u the package back to you with ur ticket. but since last week hong visa rules have changed the new processing time is atmost 21 days, since u have green card u need to send them ur job letter as well as recent bank statement. it is better to apply through travel agencies than personally just to get rid of headache but most of the times travel agencies wanna charge u more just to forward ur documents to the embassy for ur visa. i tried out several agencies here in dallas but somebody told me about the nepalese agent and it was cheaper as well as less headache and there is not need to worry about the visa because u are permanent resident and its just a transit visa ull get it. i hope this helped

Thanks guys! Hey Neptexkancha, is it possible for you to provide me with the Nepalese agent's name and phone #? The ones I found were pretty expensive. Thanks a bunch!
