I am driving to New York City from Washington DC area with some guests. I have never been to New York. I have no idea where to park. I am planning to park my car all day in New York city. I don't know how much it cost. Please give me some help where I can park and how I can spend all day in New York City. I would highly appreciate your help. Nepali Bhai

NepaliBhai, Don't expect sincer help here in Sajha. This site is NOT meant for helping each other. It is just for criticizing and fighting each other.

Nepali Bhai - If you want to park in NYC during weekdays, prepare to pay at leaset $30 for parking. If that's over your budget, then you can park your car in NJ (Journal Square is probably the best) and take PATH train to the city (http://www.panynj.gov/CommutingTravel/path/html/map.html). But you've to do the math. Path train costs $1.5 each way and if you add $2/ride in NYC subway or $7/day pass each, then it might actually be cheaper to drive to the city and park there even after paying $6 tunnel fee. Your best bet is to come on Sunday because on Sundays street parkings are FREE - some signboards may say otherwise but ignore them 'cause they are outdated.

gaule_hero Ji, Thank you for your information. I am visiting on this Saturday. As you said, I will try to locate street park. If not, I will pay for parking in or around Central Park so that I can cover more place to visit. By the way, my plan is to visit as many places as possible by train or bus or walk from morning to evening. Hence, please recommend me the places I should visit. Once again thank you for your information. NepalBhai

Parking at a garage might cost anywhere from $40 to $60 for the whole day. Street parking on either the East or the West sides of Cenrtral Park, i.e., above 59th Street -- mostly after 11 am -- and, if you can find one -- is free. Try that first. look for free parking on the side streets above 59th Street. But do come prepared to cough up about $50 for a garage parking -- sometimes it's worth it.

I suggest walking down Broadway from Central Park South (59th St) to Battery Park - that's probably 6 miles - that'll take you to most of the landmarks in the city but not the museums (except MOMA) because they are located north of 59th St. You'll be walking North-South, so east means turn left, and west means turn right. 1) 59th St - Time Warner Building & Trump International Hotel & Tower 2) 54th & 3 blocks east - Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) 3) 49th St, 2 blocks east - Rockefeller Center & Radio City Music Hall 4) 42nd to 47th St - Time Square 5) 4nd & 4 blocks east - Grand Central Terminal 6) 34th St - Macy's flagship store 7) 33rd St & 1 block east - Empire State building 8) 32nd St & 2 blocks west - Madison Square Garden 9) 23rd St - Flat Iron building 10) 14th St - Union Square 11) 8th St & 4 blocks west - NYU area & Washington Square Park 12) Bleecker St & 3 blocks west - the Village 13) Houston to Grand St - SoHo 14) Canal St - Chinatown 15) Park Pl - City Hall 16) Liberty St & 1 block west - World Trade Center site 17) Wall St & 1 block east - New York Stock Exchange 18) Intersection of Broadway & Whitehall - the famous Bull statue 19) Ends at Battery Park - you can take a ferry to Statue of Liberty

I once parked on 33rd (I am sure it was 33rd) street west side in an underground garage. Cost me $40. It was Saturday all day (10am to 3pm). Hope this helps.

I don't see any royalist dogs giving constructive advice, do you? The senior royalist dogs gave advice to the king, and look what happened. He is at the verge of losing his throne. These good for nothing dogs have no brains to give good advice. All they can do is make snide comments, such as one made above by one of the "chawro" called memyself. That's all he and his likes are capable of.
