the USCIS fees are $190+$500 + either $750 or $1500 depending on the size of your firm. (if less than 25 employees then 750, if more than 25 employess then 1500). so the total would be 2290 or 1440 USD, depending on your company. you might be getting ripped off there, unless there are other lawyer fees involved. lawyers fee range from 850 to 2000 , depending on the lawyer. hope this helps.

It is illegal for companies to ask for H1B processing fees. Though some of them write check to the USCIS and get reimbursed from the employee ... its illegal. This applies to Government fees ... not the Laywer's cost.

Don't listen to people like Prakash. If they ask for compensation, pay it. They can decline to sponsor your H1B too. So, for your own safety, just do what they tell you to do.
