 Hi All,

I need some sugegstions about PR of Canada. I am done Masters in Computer Science from US and working as a Full time in USA. I  have got  pretty good English in Reading and Writing. I  have got experience of  3 yrs experience as well. I am interested to apply for PR in Canada being in USA.

I talk with some Attorney in Canada and some immigration firm, I got reply from 2 of them only. They are saying that I am eligible for PR of Quebec Skilled workers but I have to learn French in 8 months to be prepared for an interview . They are ready for processing my Case but Asking for $3000 as their charge and they are not able to garantee whether I will be selected or not.

I have gone through the requirements it seems like I am eligible but  I miss some information like About Quebec for which the Attorney has promised me to help me with this.

I am ready to learn french but I am still in delima that I am eligible or not eventhough they have told me that I am eligible for it .

May I have suggestion regarding it.

Thanks,
Sambhabi

I am not against canada or for USA, but I know few people who left canada because of extremely harsh weather. USA is the cheapest and yes MULA Bahadur ji even the gas is cheaper in USA. Its always a good option as a backup but if someone can make it good in USA, it is the place to be.canada lost a lot of jobs last month and unemployment is rising as private sector shedded jobs in thousands. It is a ripple effect, canada won't thrive if US suffers as US is the one who buys its products.

I agree with Anon, though Canada exports gas to USA, gas is still cheaper in US. I was just giving a fair idea about Canadian expenses. If you can get GC in US, you do not need to worry about gas price and Canadian weather, you can obviously enjoy US but if you are in Florida or California, but how many of us are living there ???  Rest of the places in northern part of US suck and  have pretty much similar weather to Canada, cold like hell. If you have can survive in -15 to -20 degree celcious in US, you definitely can survive in -20 to -25 degree in Canada. IT IS COLD but still people are living there. Unlike US schools and offices, Canadian schools and offices never close down even in severe snowfall, you can imagine how the system works in winter to clean the roads.

Benefits never flow in both directions, you definitely need to sacrifice something good to get something better.

It is a personal choice but I have seen a lot of people ruining their life, education, qualification, skills in pursuit of American Green Card. But life is not going to change overnight with GC. Do not waste time, act smartly. Your decision of applying for Canadian PR can never go wrong. At the end, it is you who is going to decide either go to Nepal, or Canada or stay in US.

Jobs!!!

Do you get in US easily??? the question itself is an answer once you land in Canada to find the job. Btw, I got job in Canada, leaving US job in a few weeks time. So believe in yourself, believe in your capability, you definitely will find one coz there is always a job is waiting for you somewhere.

Last but not the least, in interviews you will never need to  act pitiful saying "I NEED SPONSORSHIP" or enslave yourself to Dhoti recruiters with fake resumes.

Canada=
- smaller job market
- pays are less (but minimum wage is higher than most US states, I guess). If you earn 50k, you are a big shot paying nearly 35% income tax
- everything expensive compared to usa- clothes, groceries, electronics, everything
- Car insurance for beginners $500/month !
- and so on.

 Small Job Market (False)

- Canada has small population too, Nepal's population 25 Million, Canada's population 33 Million, US population 300 Million

Pays are less (False)

- I am offerred more than $50000 but still I fall under 22% tax bracket.

Everything is expensive

- True to some extent, does not apply in EVERYTHING.

Car Insurance for Beginners

- 100 % True, but $500 sometimes somewhere in Canada applies, only if you are a real bad driver. THAT IS WHY THEY HAVE AWESOME PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION.

and so on

You guys are talking like getting a Canada PR is as easy as buying a phone card from 7-Eleven.  Things are getting tough on North of the border my friends and you know who are applying more Canada PR these days, American Citizen.  So to say things are all bad compare to US is not true.  Yes, market is small but so is population and there is always this misconception about Canada tax.  Remember in Canada they don't take money out of your pay check for health insurance and social security so the net amount in your pay check is same (if not more) compare to the same salary in US. Plus the government gives you money for your child care expense which can vary by your income. Having said that the sales tax is high (about 13%) compare to 6-7% in US and stuff like booze, mile, gas, car insurance are high in Canada.

About the weather, if you are coming from state like TX, FL, AZ than yes you will feel the Canadian cold but if you are coming from Midwest or north east state than it no different. Matter of fact Toronto gets less snow than MN, IA and many other US states and is similar to Chicago weather.

In Canada you can apply for Citizenship after 3 years of living in Canada as Permanent Resident.  You can't travel to US just coz you have Canada PR, you need a US visitor visa but it is easy to get and if you apply visitor visa from Canada they give it to you for 10 years.

And lastly, just because you have Canada citizenship does not mean you can come to US and work permanently. You can work under TN Visa only if you qualify under one of the NAFTA job listed. You can also apply for H1 or L visa.

 Hi All,

Thank you so much for all the information. Finally I decided to apply it on my own and I am gathering all the document . The most interesting is they have their built in programs which gives you whether you are eligible or not after you have entered all the data.  I get stocked on one thing.

I have to apply for quebec application for selection

http://www.immigration-quebec.gouv.qc.ca/publications/en/dcs/Application-selection-certificate-dyn.pdf

I don't find anywhere the exact supporting documents that I have to submit along with the form. If someone has some idea about it, then it would be great help

If I have to attest my documents then does anybody know where I can do it in USA

Thanks

Today canadian PR can be compared with DV lottery. If you are lucky, you get it else kiss your dream.

Those who missed the boat last year missed the boat forever.

It was easy till last year, you score the points for eligibility and wait for their call asking your Passport for stamping. NOW A DAYS, NO WAY FOLKS. IT IS DIFFICULT and could be as difficult as to get American Green Card because they accept only 500 applicants each year on each category and maximum is just 10000 (correct me if I am wrong) and anyone can apply for that 10000 limit from anywhere in the world. So the quota gets exhausted within a couple of weeks, just like H1b few years back.

It is not like you apply today and get it tomorrow guaranteed.

Good Luck whoever is applying who knows where your luck is hiding.

@ Mula Bahadur jee, I am expecting some help  and some information from this thread not the probable  upcoming senario or how hard it is.

I know its a government process, anything can happen in between or even a law can be changed in between. But it doesn't mean you give up doing things today thinking of tomorrow. Life is full of ups and  downs, sometime ur luck works sometimes not but should optimistic with the life

No offense Sambhavi, I was just sharing what I know. I was surprised to see your post asking for attestation of your documents, how come you do not know it. Anyways, I used to have a dumb ass friend, he did it from Notary Public. He googled it  and found notary public around his area. Bank of America used to do it, I had done mine from them, not sure if they still do it.
