I was reading the vituperative blog of our dear Paramendraji. I love the man because he throws dirt at everybody but me:) and he is a true disciple of our pugnacious TVman Bill Oreilly.

Anyway, I was reading his blog to enjoy one more round of curses/complaint/selfaggrandization of our dear old friend Paramendra, and I was thinking, 'here you go, he is cursing home minister once again'. But no this Sitaula he is cursing is fat and big and I have some drishtidosh, but I wouldn't characterize the homeminister sitaula as big and fat. Finally, looked at the name, and it is not krishna sitaula, but kiran sitaula. Poor man.

Way to go paramendraji. His list of target includes janajati, kbrana, alok bohara, king, dying girija, murderous maoists, recalcitrant madhesis, kiran sitaula, krishna sitaula, sucheta pyakurel, pahade bahuns, budhanilakantha school's former classmates etc. I don't know about his political career (madhesi might enjoy hear his pugnacious comments, but when it is time to become minister, rhidayesh tripathi is ready to kill a thousand fellow madhesi !), but his talk show in TV is bound to be successful overnight.

Kantipur TV, give him a talk show. We want a new form of entertainment in Nepal. Forget Pawankali, here comes bishkali Paramendra.

Ashu, if you have the guts to face the evil deeds done by this guy, come to the front. Tell us who you are. For me, I have unsubscribed from this guy's blog at least 5 times to be subscribed again. Holy F**k.

That said, I am well aware that it's very difficult to like Paramendra and it's so easy to dislike him.

And when Nepalis dislike somebody, they just go on and on like there's no tomorrow!

But liking Paramendra or not liking him is NOT an issue here.

As a pahadiya bahun who wants to give space to unpopular, controversial, unsettling, and radical views a hearing in the public space (even when some who air those views do not play "by the rules" for a long time), I am LEAST bothered about Paramendra's writings and emails.

Why?
Because, as a reader, I have the 'remote control'.

Meaning?
I can CHOOSE to ignore his posts or configure my email systems so that his emails end up in my 'spam' boxes.

No big deal.
I am not going spend my emotional energy cursing Paramendra Bhagat.

Again, to put this in perspective, just as those swimsuits that Miss Nepals wear do NOT turn Nepal into a bikini-land overnight and destroy 'our culture', Paramendra's blog postings too do NOT
destroy Nepal as know it.

So relax.
Have some faith.

What's the big deal?

After all, having a democracy MEANS learning to live with/deal with/work with/give space to people that you -- in the heart of your heart -- really feel like beating up in public space with a big fat lauro.

Since you can't beat them up in public space with a big fat lauro, and STILL chest-thump yourself as a democrat, the next best alternative is to, well, tolerate them. Therein lies the hope for democracy.

Democracy, after all, has its own tradeoffs.
The sooner we realise it, the better off we will be.

Personally, to look at the big picture, I am far MORE alarmed by these Maoists entering the Parliament with guns and knives than with Paramendra's blog postings. But hey, that's just me.

We have our own perception of the "netizens." I see few megalomaniacs here. I know they wanted to be worshipped for the intelligence they have. I tell you, you don't have that big heart to be the god.
And by the way for your own assessment, keep a list of your haters and admirers.

I seriously think ashu has some problems in the state of his mind.

I have repeatedly said that I am concerned about his spamming more than anything else. I have unsubscribed 5 times to be subscribed again. He used a different email id to subscribe me again.
Now, how the f**k am I to block him or his blog in such cases? Am I to go for trial and error? What the hell did I do to get into this sh*t? Did I owe anything to him ?

So, ashu, stop advocating rights to free speech and tolerance. If such things aren't respected, he has no rights to demand either. Society functions on a mutually beneficial way. Barking alone doesn't help. He can shout whatever he wants from his domain but when he comes out of the hole, he has to consider the folks around. Furthermore, he has to be careful not to step into the neighbor's garden....

Whenever there is a problem, I look for a solution.

Sure, I am NOT always successful in solving the problem, but from experience, I have found out that looking for a solution is often
a good start to move forward and not get stuck.

Your problem seems to be with PKB's mails.
Fine.

Since -- in a democracy -- you should not beat PKB with a big fat lauro to knock him down senseless for being such an 'obnoxious' spammer, look for solutions.
