"They didn't have to drive, they could have flown? "

Bond oo7, You know flight costs right? Especially Nepalese people with their last minute event plans and last minute flight bookings. If they start to fly all across states, then there will be no savings to send back home to their family. Instead they might go negative.... :) These artists individually make few hundred dollars per show. Plus RP Entertainment takes a cut since they are their sole event promoter across the USA.

Very true…. the band members are literally sick and tired of driving thousands of miles, but there is only one thing that keeps them going…the support of local Nepali communities and most importantly the fans….

bond_oo7 ... you hit the nail on the head.... why should you spend 20 dollars on a concert of a somewhat decent Nepali artist (not according to me) ... when you you can take 20 dollars ... and go to the bar and have drinks ( $5.00 - cover charge, $5.50 - beer, $9.50 Tips to that sexy blonde bar maid) ... that's the best way to spend your $20.00.

My point, if you would like to donate that money to Nepal to educate children please do so ... no one will be more proud of that then lalpari. I highly recommend people to take that money and give it to various funds to educate children in Nepal.

With that said ... if you are not going to do that and waste your money on some flutsy who will not give you a time of day ... support your fellow Nepalis ... I will tell you this ... I am not particularly fond of Nabin Bhattarai's music but as a Nepali ... me and my sister will pay $20.00 each to go to the concert whether we can afford it or not!!

Interesting discussion...let's not make Nabin Bhattarai and other artists wait until they are dead or dying to shower them 'nanatharika" accolades. We have a tendency of doing that. Budha athawa mare pachi maatra " swor samrat" whatever... Khaos na ali ali hamro artists harule...if you make 5.50 or 6 bucks, well like someone DrD said, you better just stay home or quit smoking or drinking.

Let them eat cake. Hamro artist haruko alikato shan hos na..

Let them be proud that they are Nepali artists and they have a community they can show off and count on either in MN or anywher else. Its time we took care of our own even if it requires great sacrifice of paying 2.50 cents extra than 3 years ago.

Maila Dai and Lalpari,
Don't know if you replying to my points or just trying to defend yourself in the argument.

hands down the cost is too much ask 10 people and 7 out of 10 will tell you the same.
I am just saying We should try to make it affordable to Student community so all Nepali Students can afford going to those events and support Nepali Talent.

I am sure all students want the same. we all miss Nepal we all miss Nepali paan and we all try to support Nepali culture one way or another

bond_oo7 ... I agree with you that $20.00 is a little bit high ... from what I understand the hosting organization, ANMN, tried to negotiate the price down with the artists but that did not work out. Someone above asked the Nepalmoney where i organization to put their there mouth is ... well that's what they are trying to do ... they are asking their members (all Nepalis in Minnesota --- like you - don't mean you personally, you know what I mean) to support this event and unite in welcoming Nabin Bhattarai to the TwinCities.

The price is more unreasonable for Nepali families, say a family with Dad/Mom, 4 kids ... that's $120.00 for the whole family ... so if you are going to say that the cost is high period. I wholeheartedly agree with you but if you guys are going to insist that it is only high for STUDENTS then poppy cock ... would you like cheese with your whine!!

how is this whining? why the name calling?? if you can't take constructive criticism in an publicy advertised event, then you need to take it private.

as far as i'm concerned, the only whining i don't want to hear is from the organizers after i have attended the event, took the whole family, bought CDs, and they still need donation to cover the cost because not many folks showed up. this hasn't only happened once but on numerous occasion, so it gets to be old even for those who genuinely want to help the cause.

all indications are the lack of attendance has direct correlation to the cost, but time and again the different organizing groups fail to take this into consideration.

anywayz i wish well...hope it will be a great success just like Borat :-)

well i don't know who is whining........As u guys told, you have to support the nepali artists then why don't u support students .....All u know howz the life of student then ???
So it will be better if they do $10 for student(ofcourse with valid ID) and for rest $20(just my opinion)

I just thought of something.... shouldn't those students be studying rather than going to any concerts or drinking beers at bars and elsewhere? What would their parents say if they knew!!

First of all I would like to thank ANMN for bringing N Bhattarai to town.

I don't what the big fuss is about. 1974 AD had a tag of $20 and it was sold out. Now it's $17.50. And from the buzz I hear, I'd make sure that I get there early so that I get a decent seat...

Easy to complain..hard to recognize the efforts that others put in!

See you folks on Saturday. I know it's going be fun. Nabin Bhattarai's songs are very good. And it's time for me to partially repay for all his songs I have downloaded over the internet for all these years.. :)
