Lengthy investigation leads to rape charges By Jay Hodgkins Staff Writer
OCEAN CITY — A 25-year-old taxi driver from Nepal was arrested Friday on rape and sexual assault charges after police completed an extended investigation into rape allegations made last month, according to reports.
An 18-year-old girl reported to Atlantic General Hospital on July 16 that she had been raped, but because the girl was so highly intoxicated when the events occurred the previous night and could not clearly remember several details when police interviewed her, the investigation took weeks to result in an arrest, according to reports.
ADVERTISEMENT Police said Sachindra Nepal picked the woman up during the early morning hours of July 16 when employees at the Bagels N’ Buns on 71st Street hailed a taxi for after she fell asleep in the establishment.
The woman had run from a party on 73rd Street that had been busted by police, according to reports.
Nepal tried to take the woman home to Ocean Pines, but he told police she couldn’t locate her home and that she agreed to get a hotel room with him for the night to take care of her, according to reports.
Police said Nepal eventually admitted to them he had sexual intercourse with the woman in the hotel after initially denying it.
In addition to second-degree rape, Nepal was charged with second, third- and fourth-degree sex offense and second-degree assault, according to reports.
Nepal is currently being held in the Worcester County Jail on $500,000 bond.

I'll leave that to the executioner. Who do you go to if you have a heart attack? Someone who's knowledgeable in the field, correct? You get the analogy. There you go.

rudra prasad upadhya, yes, what doctor:illness::law enforcement personnel:crime. I dont see see your involvement in this. So dont you think you should let the appropriate individuals decide what should be done with the perpetrator?

Guess what they say about opinions and a$$holes. Yup, opinions are like a$$holes, everybody's got one. Look, "innocent until proven guilty" is only a phrase. Most people usually jump to conclusion and the phrase is reversed, that is, guilty until proven innocent. That's how I feel about the case. Are doctors above criticism? Hell no. The quest is, why can't I have an opinion? I say this guy is guilty. That's my opinion. I usually trust the victim in such cases, as do most people I believe. What makes you think that I can't have an opinion about this case just because I have no "involvement" in this case?

Have an opinion, but make sure you borrow some guts from your gf as well. Otherwise a rudra with all the talk but nothing to back it up will be called a coward. And, that is me having an opinion about you.

Vincentbodega Nothing against you, but your argument makes no sense to me... Rudra gave his honest opinion and you couldn't even retaliate without dragging his gf into it... Poor defense mechanism I tell ya!!!! ;-) As for the issue, if Nepal did commit the grave crime, then I say skin that ba$tard alive.... My sympathy is with the girl until the case is proven otherwise...

Bagoda: U R full of sheet..gadha. Even if a girl is drunk or not..the freaking ass had no right to rape her. Bet your mentality is at the same level as that paakhey Sachindra. Mr. Upadhya: way to go! Yea, I think Bagoda is talking from experience or that guy is his brother....so its no wonder that we see a strong family support there. That reminds me, there was a case publicly made in Sydney few y ears back where 2 pakistani guys and a nepali guy raped a girl. The nepali guy hanged himself in the cell while waiting for the trial. Serves him right.

i agree with ImI on this....he has the most unbiased view. Xena, don't be so cruel on guys...."sex" is a strange phenomenon. even hermits and people who abstain from marriage and intercourse are caught up by enticing situations... maharishi bishwamitra was comitted to achieve the ultimate revival hence went for "tapasya" for years...urbashi came into the picture and distracted him....we are talking about the one of the stongest emotions of human beings --"sexual". so the thing is, if the american chick had enticed him and urged him for intercourse, then the dude might have succumbed under attraction and desire for sex. so we should not rule out this chance. i know it was his bad to have gone for a lady who was drunk...and who might be a minor in age. in any case, both sides should be heard...i hope the case is decided in the most just way possible. Its undisputable that whatever the guy did was some thing illegal. But hey!! when all the blood from ur big head runs to ur lil head...man cant think what is right. And besides why so sympathy for the gurl. PPL here are talking like the kid kidnapped the gurl and raped her. If she agreed to rent a motel with the guy then what the hell was the problem. She was a 18 year old, legal woman and she knew what she was doing. Everyone here knows how much a 18 year old american gurl wants sex. They are always horny. none the less when they are drunk. May be the guy had no intention of raping her and may be he thought it was a "good catch" for the night. Dont get me wrong but thats how teenagers get laid here. It was his misfortune that things got played around him like this and this was the chance he had to take. Even if he gets charged for rape he is not a rapist for me. i See some form of consent on the gurl's part too.

Loote sis, it was Menka and not Urbashi that distracted Vishwamitra.... Given that the girl was drunk and "horny", but what Mr. Nepal did was still not right... The lady was very young, she was drunk and what worse she was a complete STRANGER to him.... Even if she was willing to give it all to him, he should have considered her phsyical and mental condition at that time.. C'mon it was the girl that was out of her mind, not Nepal... Atleast he should have had control over his emotions... I know it could be difficult, but that cannot and should not be an excuse for him....

mokshya bro, yeah that was my bad...i had menka on mind, but fingers went for urbashi...hehe :P US has a strange law, have to admit...if a guy gets laid with a girl with full consent of both partners and if tomorrow, she goes to the cop and file a complaint against that guy saying that she was raped...a case WILL be filed against the guy for sure...now how would one know, what actually happened? i know Mr. nepal could well be the culprit in this case, but you never know...that's why i said, both sides should be fairly heard... Yep...loote is right.. even if the girl wanted to have sex that night and they both had sex with full consent..Girl can always accuse guy of raping her...fuc%ing strange...hey moreover.. wife can come next morning and accuse husband for raping her last night...so who is right.. who is wrong ..very hard to know.. who are rapist?? Rapist are psycho.. seriously not even kidding.. they have problem a normal ordinary guy would never commit rape...that 100% sure about that!!!usually pyschological anaylsis is required!! Unless eveidence of forceful sex ..is not there ..how can we say it is rape??? A woman has to resist atleast..there should be evidence...but law always protects woman because it is expected that woman wouldn't accuse of such things...but who knows this is kaliyug and america...hmmm....nice way for out of court settlement!!!!!

Read the original article, if you haven't done so yet. It specifically states that the girl was really hammered, and she didn't know what she was *doing*. Let's think about it for a second. Why would a girl accuse a cab-driver( cab drivers aren't that loaded--let's face it, cab drivers are no millionaires) of rape had she not really felt that she was abused by this sorry excuse of a human being? So yes, having intercourse with a girl when she is incapacitated is basically rape. I guess people here would see no problem with date rape drugs, because date rape drugs render the victims unconscious, putting them in a vulnerable position. Now according to Wikipedia, this is how "date rape" drug is defined: "Date rape drugs are substances added to a drink to render a victim unconscious or compliant and able to be easily raped or sexually assaulted, perhaps adding to the effect of an alcoholic drink, generally unknown to the person drinking it. The " So to me, it is obvious that sexually abusing an intoxicated woman is tantamount to rape, given the fact that she does not know what she is doing. Now, of course there are cases in which girls accuse guys of rape and what have you, but these are mostly speaking cases of boyfriend-girlfriend/ husband-wife bickering. As the article states, she was drunk as a skunk. So, the point here is that her *consent* has no real meaning , all because of her drunken state. About the puerile menka analogy, I don't really understand how it can be applied to this case. Had menka been forced to drink some sort of raksi, and she starts acting weird because of that, and the jogi dude decided to have intercourse with her, then in such cases, the jogi dude can be deemed a rapist. Now if menka starts dancing and seducing the jogi by her own free will, then there is no real reason to believe that menka is in a vulnerable position. So, do not take advantage of someone's vulnerability. In this case, the girl didn't know what she was doing. I don't see why she would accuse a cab-driver of rape, who after all probbly has no money in his wallet. The cab driver is no Kobe Bryant, that's for sure. So I believe the girl 100%. This khate is a rapist. Let's send him to prison where hopefully a big black dude makes him his b1tch.

XENA..you are getting too sentimental out here...There are good girls and there are bad girls..likewise there are good guys and there are bad guys.. Control hormones???yes.he will be punished if that so. BUT it is not uncommon or not unheard that woman can take advantage of such situation..just a thought.

Absence of evidence doesn't always imply evidence of absence... The girl could have been too intoxicated to fight back for all we know.. She could have laid down helplessly while Mr. Nepal was thanking his luck for being a taxi driver... I'm not saying that the girl was all innocent, but the girl's physical state was not that great for a person in his sane mind to fool around with... Moreover, even if iit was agreed upon, he shouldn't have trusted someone that easily... Sometimes you have to pay a big price for taking a hasty decision and preferring the amusing road than the safer one... And you don't need to be "psycho" to rape a woman.. Sometimes a drizzling blood rush down the "hardnosed canal" and a feeble mind could trigger the evil thought as it seems to be in this case....
