I would probably believe this if he was detained in India. Heck, even India do not like KP for what he did during the nakabandi back in the days. Trump might not even know of country called Nepal as Macpro mentioned in the post above, let alone conspire with him to detain nobody like Mohan Thapa. I did read the entire post before writing my comment. Not sure what you're trying to point out. Could you please elaborate?

According to one Nepalese news site, Mr. Thapa apparently is under investigation for money laundering in Nepal. Note that Rastriya Swatantra Party's founding leader Ravi Lamichane is also accused of money laundering and now facing criminal trail in Nepal.
The news site writes. "Reports suggest that Thapa returned to the U.S. last week following an investigation into money laundering in Nepal."
If this is true, it is fairly normal for government of any country to ask foreign government to arrest someone who is under criminal investigation if that individual escapes to that foreign country.
In Mr. Thapa's case, all KP Oli's government possibly did was inform the Trump Administration about someone under criminal investigation in Nepal possibly escaping to US to evade criminal prosecution in Nepal.

USA has never deported its permanent resident or citizens to Nepal (there was one exception who lied during his GC application) unless they committed a crime here, so there is no way that will happen now.

Trump Administration will not care as long as his administration appears tough on immigrants of any legal status in front of his supporters. How will Trump's "mass deportation" become successful if his administration do not deport anyone on the basis of slightest smell of accusations from anyone or anywhere ? "They are not sending their best." Do you remember Trump saying this some years ago ?
