Friends..let me tell you one thing........If you get stuck here with a Job..you will always get suck here...
nepali
forever said right....We don't belong here...Just thing about that point of situation when you will go back to Nepal, It will definitely be a hard decision, but my brothers and sisters..we just have one life...so either you can be on debt and get every thing materialistic in US and live in economic struggle.OR you can do something good for Nepal and die in peace. I will choose going back to Nepal and do something ..may be something very small for Nepalese people who doesn't have right to basic things and die in Peace.

Sorry to break the bubble but I have seen many a Nepalese youngsters who come with fresh patriotic feelings to the US and they want to go back as soon as they finish graduation. Come graduation, they want to work few years to make some money so they can save some money to go back and start their own business. Few years turn to decades and by then they get married and most likely even have kids, and they think it's better for their kids to grow up in the US instead of Nepal where there is loadshedding half a day and no drinking water supply.

So guys stop trying to deceive yourselves and accept reality. You are not going back if you can make it. One of the only reasons you would go back is if you cannot maintain status but then again we all know how many people who don't have status remain in the US. Maybe one in about 500 will go back to Nepal for good, but these people have a better off family who can afford to make investments to do business back home. Maybe another 1 in 500 will go back without having a rich family. The rest are gonna be stuck in the US by hook or crook.

furke you reminded me of one more thing
Another great excuse is that they will go back when the political situation will get better :)
But if you look at the chart of political situation getting better in Nepal, it's a straight downward spiral. The political situation will never get better in Nepal unless...

We have actually run out of 'unless...'. Nothing can help Nepal now. Sadly. :(

Welcome to the US

agreed with GrgDai... but the ice_cop's comment made me laugh.. $1,000 seems so big deal for him.. i.e. just $12000.. any job will pay at least 40K after graduating..

Syal I think you misunderstood icecop. He would go to nepal if he was able to make $1000 a month in Nepal.

Truthspeakers statement is funny. He sounds condescending to other Nepalis living in the US because according to him, he will choose to go back to Nepal. That time will never materialize. It's easy to blow ones horn.

Maybe if nepal government provides $1000/month jobs, people like icecop and many others would return back to nepal. If those corrupt didn't amass millions of dollars of wealth off the poor nepalese people maybe an ideal nepali govt would be able to recall all of us to do some good. Wishful thinking at best. :)

I am glad, I was able to make you laugh grgDai bro. I agree with you that most people get stuck here and won't go back but you cannot say "So guys stop trying to deceive yourselves and accept reality." You cannot speak for others, I am not you, and nether is icecop. You cannot say what we will do or won't do in future. You can falsely generalize us but each of us are indivisible entity with purely our own thoughts. What you are saying is just what you think and what you believe in and you have every rights to have ur own thoughts, but plz don't generalize other people according to ur own beliefs. May be ice cop will really go back if he gets job for 1000/month, you don't know him. It might be hard to believe for you coz you beliefs are different. May be furke will go back if situation improves or May be not but every action begins with thought which we are sharing in sajha. It will defiantly take strong commitment and huge plan to turn it into action, but you cannot say it's impossible. Thank you.

we have to go back someday. if we all think nepal is a fail state and is afraid to go back who's ever going to build our motherland. remember all the educated and those having lump sum of money are migrating to another country but this is not the way to solve nepal crisis. today nepal need us more than ever.

jai nepal

I forgot to add sth on my above comment. I am going back under two conditions. One I stated above (political stability) and another is as soon as I have NPR 1 crore 50 lakhs on hand which ensures my financial rigidity in Nepal. Parental property and land extra for shelter and back up. Small business garula tyo nabhaye house rent ma duila. Dollar ta Nepal mai chhapinchha. Income dollar ma Expense Rupees ma, how abt that?

I am not worried abt load shedding. I have a planning for that. I am going to install either solar power or inverter at least for light and TV. For drinking water, I can't combine H2 and O2. Yo kurama malai Nepal Sarkar sanga pura biswas chha....

Tyaspachhi ayinchha America dui dui barsa ma, ghumna tourist banera, hahah.....

I proposed, I know he won't dispose, Good luck to me!

I came here 15 years ago as a young patriot and was eager to return as soon as I finished my undergrad studies, reason - I hoped to get a decent job and wanted to be amongst family and friends. My dad applied for several jobs there (might sound extremely corny, but he sure did) to several sectors, but for no avail. And for several years I lived here in bit of an agony, about having to live here as a second citizen. But looking back, I think I made a right decision, this country has not only given me a better career, but also a respect every good samaritan gets. I can franchise my rights as much as any other American, I have witnessed a rule of law I never heard of, I eat better, wear, live and think better. I can travel anywhere I want without issues. Taking about racism, have we forgotten the communal hate threads in sajha? We are actually more racists than Americans, not only are we racists, we are equally chauvinists and parochial. Even if the political situation were better, I do not see why I need to return to Nepal. My main issue in returning back to Nepal, is social and spiritual emancipation, which I could never attain.

I was a patriot once, but now, honestly, patriotism my brown a#*e, I just want a better life, and I am sure getting one.

I am not haughty, I am just being extremely honest.

Uranus, bullet on the spot. Ppl like you ( this is just my assumptions that u r simple too ) and me just want simple life with just one thing in mind, piece -" live and let live". I recently went to nepal (a month ago), and this time I changed my mind that I will not survive in nepal, especially in ktm, thats where I am from. I went twice before it, and everytime I thought I would return to nepal sonner or later. I gave that thought this time. - Kehi kura nai mildaie na, After 8 years in US, things are just different there. Na system cha...kasaie le kasaie le na respect garcha....na manchay ko bolnay dhanga cha..........kasali help garnue parnay ko saga kasari bolnue parnay....no idea.............I mean I can go on and on....abut all these.....but then it would help no one. the only thing i will get back is some hard-headed ppl here in sajha using some fancy language bitching about it back to me. I know Kunai desh afaie bandaie na, we have to fix it. Tara fix kaha bata garnay....ra bigarnay dher chan yeha fix garnay vhanda. And most importantly, I am simple person, ma saga tetro sabie tyag garnay chamata chaina........I have my own dreams, and they are simple...........get married, get kids get house, live happily and let others live happily........

Haat hernay le 51 years ko huda ferkincha vhanya cha..............seems thats gonns be true.....merna chahi afnaie desh jancheu hola...after all I am Nepali, and I love my country.

I think we have to deal and find a way with tactfulness and not way too much emotionally in the issues of "Khai Afo Desh Laie Kahi Garnae sakina", "Desh Farkaouu for Good". As far as i can see things are looking good guys. My story: I went back to Nepal for a month vacation after eight years of experience. As i was assessing the situation in Kathmandu and Pokhara i see more opportunities to apply what we learned here in US professionally and what we have in blood ethicly (love for our country and to give back). As far as i can see my sloob friends who were there all their life were just exploiting innocent friends there, trafficking people to Arabs, exploiting nepalese sisters in clubs, involved in politics (they are merely SLC cleared). What i did in this month vacation was volunterred for INGO which was a blissful experience. Also from the professional perspective, i found few new opportunities (an e.g: as i am from Engineering background, creating data inventory of rivers and streams for GIS application, and water resources research; which we can sell to get payback). My guess is that we have to do new things rather than trying to compete with what people are doing  back in Nepal. With this though i am planning to go once every year back from now onwards. Identification cards is on its way, so we will have privlege to work around in our country. The banking system has improved with facility for us to open an account in Kathmandu where we can earn dollars here and deposit in KTM banks so it will be a lot easier to perform monetary transactions. Green card is on its way so that will make life easier to go back anf forth between Nepal and US. Are you guys following and seeing the big picture here?? You don't have to go for GOOD back. You can do a lot from here as well and be back and forth - giving back to country, stay connected with friends and relatives in Nepal; One bullet, two target.

Sorry guys for this long response but i just couldn't help myself here. Again:

YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO BACK FOR GOOD TO DO SOMETHING IN OUR COUNTRY.

Please try to see the glass half full.
