Hi guys, I kind of, have been following  the news about things are going on in Dargeeling lately such as strike, bandh, fighting between Gorkhalies (ethnic Nepalese) and Bengalies etc.............

All I want to say rightnow is, It's hurt me when Madhesis (ethnic Indians) ask for Terailand, and I am pretty sure Indians also feel the same way.

On account of the homogeneity of population, it is better to recognize Gorkhaland as a seperate state. There are already 28 states (and of course 6 union territories in India), one more state would be added given Gorkhaland was recognized a state. But this should not be a precedence for other separatist movement.

Just my personal thought.

Nepali people can not even protect themselves in Nepal's terai ( easily 100 people were killed in less than a week and a cowards Nepalese couldn't do anything), do you think that any Nepalese has capabilities to make a separate out of Indian state...Good luck...Nepalese aren't that clever which is why Nepalese are where they are in the world, in the bottom of the bottom of food chain....

If somehow 'Gorkhaland' becomes a state, Do you guys really think will India let our Terai not to seperate from Nepal? Think about it. We already have problems getting our things together. I rather have my won Terai than Gorkhaland to Indian Gorkhas. Gorkhas choose to live there, they are abiding by Indian constitution. And I also want Medhesis to respect , obey and be honest to our constitution and sovereignity.

Bottom line is I don't support Gorkhaland. Because you don't wanna throw stones to other's house while you live in a glass house.

I am amazed by the limited knowledge of bishal123. Gorkhas did not choose to live there and they did not have an option of coming to nepal. Gorkhaland is Sikkim which used to be an independent nation like nepal. India lured it like it is doing with nepal now. You will one they ask for a seperate state nepaland in india and people from gorkhaland will laugh as you did not support them.

Dear Khaobadi,  I don't know how much knowledge I have, but as far as a know Sikkim was never a sovereign nation unlike Nepal. It was just like Tibet. During 2nd world war or after, lot of countries started taking so called 'unsovereign nations' because they were not United Nations memeber. Sikkim was part of that game I guess.

 Anyway, my main point is why do you wanna support Gorkhaland, we already having problem in Terai. if Indian Gorkhalis get Gorkhaland by fighting or killing people, I am pretty sure Madhesis will do the same thing in Nepal. Why do you want a mess? Let them figure out their problem, it's not our problem. We already have problem at home.

Do you want to jump in  at your brothers (who are living separate from you)'s problem or you want to slove your son's problem who is living with you????  we could do that if we were as strong as Pakistan and had a Nuke.

I think Terai is no way similar to what Nepalese (Nepali speaking people) are demanding in India. Terai is very diverse in terms of demography unlike the proposed Gorkhaland. Gorkhaland is possible but Terailand seems impossible becuase its diversity unless it is only for disintegration of the nation.

Not necessarily because...
Indian constitution has provision for creation of states on linguistic and cultural basis such as punjab for punjabis, bengal for bengalis. Whereas such state division system is not in the constitution of Nepal. Therefore the demand for a separate state of Gorkhaland is well inside the constitution of India.

I don't know whether Indians support division of Nepal or not, the demand for Gorkhaland is for a separate state not an independent nation. It will be well inside India as one of the states.

As I mentioned earlier demand for a separate state of Gorkhaland is there since 1907. It is a legal demand and has a provision in the Indian constitution to create a new state on cultural and on the basis of language of the people. Therefore Gorkhaland remains in India and Terai remains in Nepal.
