The groups or user are populated from the server which are allowed to grant a Permission like: for DOCUMENT A, THERE ARE THREE GROUP A,B,C initially... Now i have a search "Type casted Filte"r to search a group... Is it a gud idea to do a server side searching or a client side searching..since we already have a pre populated groups for a document A to whom we can grant a Permission? Put your view.... By VAUHINI VARA October 13, 2007
Larry Ellison, founder and chief executive of Oracle Corp., may be entering the end game in his four-year play to consolidate the business-software industry around his company.
The software giant disclosed a $6.7 billion unsolicited offer to buy BEA Systems Inc., a Silicon Valley company that helped build the market for Web-services software. The bid, a 25% premium to BEA's closing price Thursday, comes as activist investor Carl Icahn, BEA's biggest shareholder, has put pressure on the smaller software company to sell itself.

Guys if you want to see this presentation take a look..............
http://www.nejug.org/2007/JBossSeam-nejug-20071018.pdf
First, I want to take a moment to thank Michael Yuan for his excellent presentation of Seam on October 18th.
In just 2 weeks (November 8th) at the Burlington Sun Microsystems campus, we will have the opportunity to listen to Reza Rahman author of "EJB3 in Action" compare EJB3 with spring. I read his presentation the other night and will tell you he has some very interesting (and balanced) comments about both EJB3 and spring. This is a
presentation you should not miss!
To register for the November EJB3 and the Spring Framework: A Comparative Analysis meeting click on the link: http://www.nejug.org/meetingRegistration.jsp
In January we will have the first of a series of SOA presentation when Mark Hansen the author of "SOA Using Java Web Services" will present his view on Web Services. Then in March we will have our own Kurt Stam and Burr Sutter from JBoss present on ESB technology.
See you November 8th.

What is Web Services? I came across this term for a while, i could not clearify myself what are web services and what it is use for? During my project i came accross some place where we use web services. I would like to share some information about how to use it and why it is use for. Web services are a collection of business logic which are developed so that a third party can use it without giving access to entire database or entire business logic.
For example suppose say a company name XYZ has three other financial client A,B,C... so the company name XYZ has a software whose business logics are used by all of these client...... These client might require certain kind of business requirment to view data from the database. In this case the company name XYZ can't give full access to all the data, since some of the data belongs to other client. In this scenario the company name XYZ will create a web service where they will write certain function (business logic) and will give that access to company name A so that, a particualar company name A can get his requirment. So for a while it is like creating plugin for a company name A to get his data only. SOAP plays a role to communicate between these two company that is XYZ AND A. it is nothing but a protocal use to connect between these two company.
Hope it will help someone to know what is web services. Please correct me if i am wrong.

The power of software
Today and in the future, many of the jobs with the greatest impact will be related to software, whether it is developing software working for a company like Microsoft or helping other organisations use information technology tools to be successful.
Lifelong learning is vital |
Communication skills and the ability to work well with different types of people are very important too.
A lot of people assume that creating software is purely a solitary activity where you sit in an office with the door closed all day and write lots of code.
This isn't true at all.
Software innovation, like almost every other kind of innovation, requires the ability to collaborate and share ideas with other people, and to sit down and talk with customers and get their feedback and understand their needs.
I also place a high value on having a passion for ongoing learning. When I was pretty young, I picked up the habit of reading lots of books.
It's great to read widely about a broad range of subjects. Of course today, it's far easier to go online and find information about any topic that interests you.
Having that kind of curiosity about the world helps anyone succeed, no matter what kind of work they decide to pursue.
Bill Gates is chairman, chief software architect and one of the founders of Microsoft, the world's largest software company. From July 2008 he will end his day-to-day involvement in the company and focus on the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and its global health and education work.

Hi all,
I've deployed the session bean in a WebLogic Server. My JNDI.properties file has correct entries. I'm getting the following exception when calling one of the methods in the bean:
caused by: javax.naming.NoInitialContextException: Need to specify class name in environment or system property, or as an applet parameter, or in an application resource file: java.naming.factory.initial
Any help would be highly appreciated. I'm not sure about "NoInitialContextException" as I see the bean with JNDI name in an application server.
Regards, Kancha
