Happy Monday guys!!! When I was little girl, my grandfather used to read me Ramayana. The story used to fascinate me. Now after all these years, I want to know the story from Ravana’s perspective. I’ve been following a TV serial based on Ravana and I’m finding it really interesting. It’s been a boring Monday morning. Wanted to open a new thread to see how my friends in Sajha were doing :)

Thik chha CamoFlaGed, timro ni? Oh that 10 heads part is so well explained in the serial Ravana, you got to watch it. Ravana's father was a great scientist and he created this crystal locket, when u wear it due to the the reflection of light on it showed as if there were 10 heads. Later on Ravan got that locket.

Hi Camo, Nice to see you.. There are so many interesting things, which I didn’t know earlier. For instance, I didn’t know that both Rama and Ravana possessed Bramhastra. During the final war between Rama and Ravana, Ravana decided not to use the Bramhastra against Rama because if both of them used it, the world would come to an end. So he took it upon himself and that’s how he died.

Morning Capt. saab, Good to see you.. I watch it on Zee TV..As pretty has said, they have tried to show it scientifically. How Ravana got his 10 heads..Ravana's father was also something like ultrasound to see how the baby was doing inside the mother's womb..it's pretty fascinating..

Total and complete BS, people trying to find modern science in ancient fairytales. those story are meant for moral values and good learning not to engage yourself in pseudo-science. you know how many scientist and how labor hours has been put into the discovery and prototyping of the ultrasound sdny was talking about. it has been like a fashion these days to find science in age old fairytales.

BB, I don't see anything wrong in it. It is actually true that so many things that our old people did was totally scientific. For example, we were not allowed to wear shoes inside the kitchen. It does have hygienic implication to it...besides, we are talking about Ramayana from Ravana's perspective here, which I find pretty intriguing.

i don't see anything wrong either. i was just pointing out that it is just a feel good factor, maybe, to find modern intelligence in our heritage? hey no offence i also belong to the heritage i was just being self-critical. my only concern is why are people trying to find science in fairytales: Yes i believe ramayan is a fairytale but do i consider it to be something to be learned ofcourse. but is it fair to credit ravan's Daddy for already having contrived a device that only came into existence in the last century.

Yes, apparently, Kuber's father, who is an Aryan married this daityakanya (raavan's mom). The whole episode where Kuber's father marries Raavan's mother is pretty funny..

When I was in school, one of our teachers told us that in Sri Lanka, Ravana was revered as a national hero who stood up to Raam, who represented Indian "samrajyawaad". Does anyone have any info to support or contradict his "theory"?
