Are we in the same RANA Era?? Think about it??
Nepal Bhasa was the national language of medieval Nepal. After Shah
dynasty ascended to Nepalese throne, Khas language was used along with
Nepal Bhasa. During this era, Khas language was renamed "Nepali" and Nepal Bhasa was renamed "Newari".
During Rana regime, in 1905, a law was formulated which allowed only
Khas language to be the official language of Nepal and banned the
official use of any other languages. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nepal_Bhasa_movement

I agree that Minister Yadav's remark and action made me think, I may not know the exact reason why he did it but it has helped me to think. I would like to request you to think beyond the box. Let me give you an example. ->I was in India for 6 years, every state i went their official forms( i know only rail reservation and tax form) were on 2 language. In Tamilnadu its (Tamil and English)/West Bengal its (Bengali/English), in Delhi (Hindi/English) and so on. ->And here in US also while applying for SSN I saw two forms (English and Spanish). You can argue, Nepal is not a Federal as INDIA or unlike US where English is most speaking language. For Nepal the problem is little complex, cause we are not Federal plus we have many languages. Let me take you back to our History, not very far not at Rana's era(it is no surprise that only in 1905 NEPALI became official language, before that?? think about it??). In Mid 1990s' around 1997/98 Kathmandu Municipality and Janakpur Municipality wanted to make 2 official administrative language(Nepali + regional language). But in 1999 Supreme Court went against the verdict and that day is known as BLACK DAY. We are not saying accept the use of NEPAL BASHA, MAITHALI or any other language at the Central government level. But We should get recognized at our regional level. I feel there is no harm having 2 administrative language at regional level. This is not the act of disintegration, this is an integration act, by recognizing somebody's culture or language you accept its existence and can live in harmony. If you accept the existence you don't throw bricks you throw respects among one another. But recognition of language is a long battle.

sure you have made valid points. If our government (through proper constitutional procedure and not cheap intimidation tactics) decides to recognise more than one official language, I am up for that. But in order to do that we need to have a government of the people, a well-written constituion, and procedures for constitutional amendment.
If Matrika and his cronies are real patriots and want to promote linguistic integration, they need to go through the constitutional/legal/proper process, and not intimidate the interim parliament . As a minister of an interim government, Yadav and his party members should find effective means of communicating thier message of integration (if that really is their message)! Instead what does that moron do? Goes to the parliament and bickers with the PM like a teen-aged girl ....Could he be any more naive?
and lets not even go too long back in history! I remembr this punk Matrika ..last time he was in the government, he threatened to resign over anything trivial ..... The point is that his behavior is so fickle, and naive that a reasonable person would never take him seriously!
And you want us to belive tha he is a visionary? Dude.... are you on crack?

Probably we are moving out of track here. I don't know if I am confused. I believe Matrika Prasad Yadav (MPY) does represent CPNM and is probably not becoming a minster on personal basis. If the party really wants him to take oath in Maithili only, the official statement from the party should come out. Otherwise, what the heck he is trying to do bickering like a child. Is he the party itself or should he follow the party's ruling?
What can poor Prachand also do now? MPY is the only face they can present as a Madhesi leader. If they utter a single word againt his actions, who knows he will not follow the trail the MPs (like Mahantha, Hridayesh, Ramchandra, etc) of other political parties (and even the Moaists' byproducts like Goit, Jwala Singh, etc) made. So there is no other way for the party than to remain tight-lipped!!!

If matrika yadav did that drama was out of conviction he needs brain surgery...Dr. Devkota is still there with hammer and nail to skull him off. If he was there in the dais to sell himself as terai savior, few would have taken him. If he wanted to be in limelight that way, you would not find better than him among lousiest attention seekers. Not the least, if he was not sure what was he doing, the pampered maoist was misunderstood again by the traitors as rulers- girija and co; he was honestly asking for a place in psychiatrist cabin but was given a birth in cabinet.

I don't know whether the word I chose really makes sense or not. But I was trying to compare Moaists' position vis-a-vis recent activities in Madesh. Otherwise, no matter how fearful or dreadful the party was in the past/is now, what meaning does it convey if the party or its Chairman remains a silent spectator against the activities of its member/representative in the government?

To Justhuman only :-) Well Dude he's not my visionary, but his act made me think? I don't want to discuss what he did and what he did not. My only cause is the recognition of other languages too, and having 2 official administrative language(region wise ie. Nepali + Regional language). I am sure this issue will be addressed in this historical CA Election's Constitution, no matter when that will be.
