I am confused and little bit surprised. I saw people celebrating Prashant's win at Kathmandu and Darjelling. I saw people holding nepali flags at India and celebrating it. Great ! As one nepali I am proud of it. But what if tomorrow one Madhesi wins Nepali idol and bihar celebrates it with indian flag. OOPS...thats not allowed..thats the direct attack on nepali nationality probably funded by RSS..most nepalis will say dhotis won the nepali idol...and imagine if nepali idol from madhesh area decides to wear dhoti on idol finale...can we imagine that. how will be our response then...and no offence to Prashant but hes indian..he grew up at india..used indian resourses to get educated. also i wonder why Madhesi people should feel they belong to nepal when their own people (udit naryan) gets trashed by media where as indians guys win is celebrated every where in phadi area..

will luv to hear some comments on this issue from some sajha basi...

Waving a nepal national flag in darjeeling doesnot offened anybody, cause everybody is well informed that there were hundreds of people from Nepal who had come to Darjeeling for the support of Prashant.
There were atleast hundred vehicles with big banners and nepali national flag flying high which passed away from panitanki border alone on that day and this thing started atleast from 3-4 days earlier the grand finale. One more thing you must be knowing that you have to pass thru the indian police & customs in india while travelling there.
In fact indian govt. did not charge any duty on the vehicles bearing nepali no. plates passing to India for that day. It was free of charge . Cause everybody know its just an act of solidarity and people are supporting a nepalese speaking fellow who is an indian by nationality & birth whose ancestors probably may have been from nepal .
No body is offended by that . C'mon guys have a big heart anybody can wave there national flag in any country, there is no harm in that at all . But the thing anybody should not disgrace anyones flag. That will be an offence and a crime.

You guys may have seen games happening in different countries of the world and the players/spectators wave national flags of there respective countries they are from .
Yesterday there was a match between India and Pakistan in South Africa and there were thousands of people waving the flags of these two nations. Was it an offence to SA people.

With all the due respect to all of our nepali people, I feel that we have got a very narrow heart. So, we feel intrusion in every thing and this is the main cause that we aren't progessing because we link everything even day to day event to nationality, we feel very very insecured because of this narrow mindedness of ours. In order ti progess and deal with the bigger world we need to come out of this mindset & inferior complexity.

Guys, I am very very sorry if I have offended anybody. The above mindset & statement applies to me as well being a true nepali, so in a way i am Criticissing & commenting on myself .

Interesting comments...just trying to point our double standards...how we feel if some madhesi wins the nepali iodl and indian comes to nepal with their flag to celebrate it...or even worst than that if prashant was from madhesh and had madhesh link....

i completely agree with simpson..i had never given this a thought and now after reading what simpson has said..it is very true..we as a nepali will never allow this to happen..nationalism ko naam ma danga bahek kei hunna..i am a very big fan of prashant..and i am very proud of him..and i supported him all along..tara will we let the same happen if above mentioned situation arises????? its a good thought Simpson!!!

Thanks for atleast understanding it. I have not heard Prashant singing and 'am sure hes good. But I just amazed how desperately we are trying to make Prashant "Nepali" when hes indian and he won the indian idol..:)

The people living in darjeeling love our country nepal more than you assoles, even if they are indian citizen. they are not like you MOFOers who always try to creat misunderstanding /fight between people. They do stuffs, and dont talk useless like you butt fleshes.

if you love Nepal so much...more than country you live in..better come to nepal. how ethical is it to love nepal (and say my country) and stay in india be indian national ? if you feel you are more nepali...come back to our country and start paying tax..and declare that all advantages you getting being indian national isnt worth..LOL

Prashant has not hurted anybody, he has never spoken anything wrong about nepal yet.

FYI i have nothing against new indian idol winner..and will like to congratuate him..being the indian idol and being nepali speaking indian national !!

but this thought came to me while reading pak cricket team captains yesterday after loosing game...he thanked all muslims..as if his team was representing all muslims all over the world...so prashant representing all nepalis all ove the world or he represts india being indian national ?

he is representing india, he is an indian...but at the same time, since he cannot boycut his ancester (nepali), he is trying to cope up with both. Thats all. this is us who is benefiting from his fame, also this is only us who is responsible for any blasphemy around.

kEEP IT SIMPLE.................Prashant Tamang a Nepali origin .......Indian national....won the Indian Idol.........All nepalese voted and supported him for having a Nepali origin......He speaks Nepalil....eats daal bhat tarkari.......he looks like a Nepali and who wouldnt support him with his sooo humble looks, kind smile and the greatest attitude...........GREAT VOICE......and best of all he represented the minority Nepalese group in India..........which showed the indians about Nepalese Unity when needed....
I wish we all united the same way when it comes to our country's state ......

For your first question about Madhesi:

I had no intention to defame Madhesi (hindi speaking, tarai origin, nepali nationals). My questions was how would have been the reaction if one of our Madhesi guy won nepali idol (if exists) and Indians comes to our country to celebrate it (because madhesi national from tarai are hindi speaking thus indians have got rishts to celebrate it !!!). I dont have any prob with that but again could have been another hirthik roshan episode in Nepal.

What is the harm in Indians supporting a Nepali national Madhesi person and waving indian national flag just to so that he is from India and is supporting our nepali person.

Like people from Nepal went to India to support Prasant with National Flags and no body objected including police, army, indian media no body objected because it only to the support of Nepal for Prashant . Why was the support because the culturally/Laguage wise they are the same people. Only Politically they belong to different nations.

Like wise its the same with Madhesis they are as much nepali citizen as we are there is no doubt in it.

But they have the emotional attachment with the people Speaking Bhojpuri, Maitheli and Awadhi who reside in UP and Bihar of India because language wise and culturally they are the same people its only the politics of the modern world which has divided. So indians from Bihar & UP can come to support our Nepali Guy with their national flags whats the harm in it. Like in the case of Prasant its only to show that they support our Madhesi guy but they are representing India.

You can take the same case for the Tamils in Srilanka, Bangaldeshi Chakmas in India, Tibetians in India or Nepal, Bengalis in Both India and Bangladesh to name a few.

guys Prashant is Nepali- Indian. Nepali coz Nepali blood is running in his vein and Indian coz he is living in India and born there. So stop fussing and celebrate his victory and learn something from him.

Simpson bhai ko bichar dekhera malai maya lagyo. Ahile Bharat ko bhaniyeko Darjeeling pahile Nepal ko thiyo. British ko palama China sanga trade ko lagi British le tyo thau kabja gareko thiyo jun India le aafu independent bhayepachhi Nepal lai firta garena jun garnu parthyo.
Darjeeling ka manchhe haru ahile pani aafulai Swayetta pradesh ghosana garna ko lagi, GORKHALAND ko lagi sangharsa gariraheka chhan.
Bhai le ekpatak Indian Idol feri hernus Prashant le aafno vote ghatla bhanera ma bharatiya hu jasto kahilei dekhauna khojena. Sadhai aafu nepali bhako ma uslai Garva thiyo. Even in the final day before knowing the result he was singing Gorkhali praise.

Ani arule aafno bhubhag bhanyo bhandai ma gunta kasera bhagnu chahi bhai lai kasari nyayasangat wa bahaduri jasto lagyo tyo maile bujhna sakina. They are still fighting for their identity, so I am proud of what they are doing in name of Nepali not only in words but also in action.
