Google Is Adding Major Libraries to Its Database

Google, the operator of the world's most popular Internet search service, plans to announce an agreement today with some of the nation's leading research libraries and Oxford University to begin converting their holdings into digital files that would be freely searchable over the Web.

its a good start by google but I am skeptical as to how long before they are chewed up by the evil Microsoft. check this out http://beta.search.msn.com/. I hate to admit but so far i found this beta version search engine better than google. Its pathetic but I ran around 25% of searches on msn today...you can run some results and test it for yourself. I hope google will not be another Netscape story...

My prediction is in next 2+ yrs these search engines will have to choose their niche...I don't know about "1 company being a search god" for all subject/market...

For google the challenge will be coming up with various of other sources of revenue streams besides their technology and pay per click ad solutions...Access to great resources from Library in Harvard is great but how is google going to sustain it in the longer run is a multi billion dollar question? On the other hand the evil MSFT has multi channels for revenue generations and multi multi multi billion sitting in reserve to attack anyone they compete with them..So don't bet your 401K on GOOG just yet!
